A Century of Farming

In 1917, brothers Peter and Andy Thomsen purchased the first piece of ground in what would become Wiest Farms, Inc. Situated in the northwest corner of Deuel County in the southern panhandle of western Nebraska, the farm now spans a tri-county area. Wiest Farms is a recipient of the Pioneer Farm Award, which is given by the Nebraska Farm Bureau and the Aksarben Foundation to recognize families that have held at least 40 acres of land for 100 years.

Michael Wiest is the owner/operator of Wiest Farms, representing his family farm's third generation.

3rd Generation Grower

Michael Wiest currently owns and operates Wiest Farms, Inc. He represents the third generation of the family. Under his leadership, the farm first received organic certification in 1993, a designation it has maintained ever since.

Wiest Farms sells all quantities of U.S. organic grain, including wheat, millet and milo.

Growing U.S. Organic Grain in the 2020s

Certified organic, Wiest Farms utilizes crop rotation and other sustainable farming practices. No pesticides, herbicides or chemicals of any kind are ever used at any stage of our growing process. We currently have grain in storage and more in production.
